Margaret "Joan" (Wallick) Horney

Margaret Joan Horney, 86, of Houghton Lake, Michigan and Van Wert, Ohio passed away on Sunday July 29, 2018.

Joan was born on February 12, 1932 in Venedocia, Ohio to Clarence and Alma (Warick) Wallick. She grew up in the Grover Hill, Ohio area and graduated from Grover Hill High School. On November 25, 1951 in Grover Hill she was married to Glenn "Roger" Horney, who preceded her in death. Joan worked as a bookkeeper for Freeland Community Schools in Michigan for many years. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church of Van Wert and the YWCA of Van Wert. She loved cooking and spending time with her family. Joan was a collector of any kind of Cardinal and enjoyed antiques.

Surviving Mrs. Horney are her three sons, Dennis (Joyce) Horney of De Pere, WI, Craig (Sonalea) Horney of Newark, DE. and Jeff (Linda) Horney of Washington Twp., MI.; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; and six siblings. 

Memorial Services for Margaret Joan Horney will be conducted at 10:15 am Saturday October 6, 2018 at Trinity Methodist Church in Van Wert. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Van Wert. Memorial contributions in memory of Joan are asked to be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.
