Mary Ellen Alberts

Gladwin - Mary Ellen Alberts, longtime resident of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Horizon Senior Living in Gladwin. She was 81.

Mary was born on December 25, 1936, in Livonia, Indiana, to Lovell and Drucilla (Cole) Wheat. Mary entered into marriage with Marvin LeRoy Alberts Sr. on March 27, 1956, at the Marion United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1999.

Mary made her living working with the former Evart Products, now Ventra, for over 30 years. All the while raising her family of five children. Mary enjoyed time in the kitchen and could provide wonderful meals for family dinners or gatherings. She liked to cook or spend time outdoors mushrooming and hunting. She will be missed by her loving family, former co-workers and all those that had the opportunity to know her.

Mary is survived by her five children; Daughter, Robin Bonner of Big Rapids, daughter, Sheryl (Gerald) Miller of Coldwater, son, Richard Alberts of Marion, son, Larry (Wendy) Alberts of Cadillac, son, Marvin (Sandi) Alberts Jr. of Marion; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Don (Connie) Wheat and Carl (Sarah) Wheat; brothers-in-law, Duane (Pat) Alberts, LeRoy Schuler and Jim Berger; as well as many other loving family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Alberts Sr.; a brother, Jim Wheat; her beloved step-mother who raised her, Della Eichorn Wheat, and her parents.

Visitation for friends and family will be held Friday, September 14, 2018, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home.  Funeral services take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 15, 2018 also at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Williams. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Marion.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Marion Baptist Church and Marion Food Pantry.
