Mary Boggs Obituary

Mary Ann Boggs, 85, of Houghton Lake passed away on Monday October 15, 2018 with her loving family by her side at The Brook of Houghton Lake.

Mary was born on December 25, 1932 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Albert and Dora (Willoughby) Owens. Mary grew up in the Ypsilanti area. On April 15, 1949 in Dundee, Michigan Mary was married to Louis Gene Boggs. The couple moved to the Utica area where Mary's husband got a job teaching school. They lived in Utica until moving to Houghton Lake a couple years ago. Mary was an excellent seamstress and made soft luggage bags she named Boggs' Baggs which she sold at Arts and Crafts Fairs for many years. Her true love in life was being a devoted wife, loving mother, and enjoying time with her grandchildren.

Surviving Mrs. Boggs are her loving husband of 69 years, Louis Gene Boggs of Houghton Lake; daughter, Luann Boggs of Plano, TX; son, Dr. Louis (Jenny) Boggs of Prudenville; granddaughter, Dr. Lindsy (Robert) McMorrow of Houghton Lake; two grandsons, Louis (Amanda) Boggs of St. Clair Shores, Parker Cohen of Scottsdale, AZ; four great grandchildren, Louis, Avery, Harper, and Madison; brother, Robert (Marilyn) Owens of Ypsilanti; several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard Owens, and  William Snead; and two sisters, Betty Snead, and Lois Owens. 

Family Celebration of Life Services will be held for Mary Ann Boggs. Interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Memorial contributions in memory of Mary are asked to be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, 564 S Main St., Suite 200, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
