Mary Jane Mooney, 88, of Prudenville passed away on Friday December 7, 2018 at Crawford Continuing Care Center, Grayling.
Mary was born on July 1, 1930 in Flint, Michigan to Adam and Elizabeth (Schwartz) Dienes. Mary grew up and attended school in the Flint area. On December 28, 1948 in Indiana Mary married Henry E. Mooney, whom preceded her in death in 1978. She worked as an Assembly Line Worker for General Motors at the AC Spark Plug Plant until her retirement. Mary moved to the Houghton Lake area from Davison over 30 years ago. She was a Life Member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed bingo, along with an occasional casino trip.
Surviving Mrs. Mooney are her two daughters, Debra (Earl) Vanover of Prudenville, and Linda (Briton) Grenfell of Davison; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry E. Mooney; two sons, Ed Mooney, and Mark Mooney; sister, Johanna Murphy; brother, Albert Dienes; and longtime companion, Morton Robinson.
