Mary Lou Schepers, age 95 of South Haven, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the River Ridge Assisted Living Center.
Mary Lou was born September 11, 1923 in Grand Rapids to Donald and Lucy (Bookwalter) Colborn.
She married Bob Schepers on December 15, 1945 in McBain and he preceded her in death in 2012.
Mary Lou was a graduate of McBain High School and became a registered nurse. She trained at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids and went on to work at the Olin Health Center at Michigan State University.
Mary Lou was a lifelong lover of dogs. She loved listening to music; especially classical and jazz guitar. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano.
She had been a member of the McBain United Presbyterian Church and attended the Faith Reformed Church in Traverse City.
Mary Lou was the devoted and loving mother of Jim (Nancy) Schepers of South Haven, and Ginny (Rollin) Sanders of Sharon, MA, beloved grandmother to Rob (Stacey) Schepers of Grand Rapids, Katy (Michael) Paull of Columbus, OH and James (Sarah) Sanders of Guilderland, NY and loving great grandmother to Alice, Cora and Hazel. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and the many friends she has acquired throughout the years from Zeeland, McBain, Jackson, Muskegon, Elk Rapids, Traverse City and South Haven.
A time of gathering will be on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City with burial to follow in the Mount View Cemetery in McBain.
