Maxine Myrtle (Brazee) Nelson

Cadillac, Michigan - Maxine Myrtle Nelson, life-long resident of Manton passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. She was 94.

Maxine was born on May 22, 1923, in Colfax Township, Michigan to Leslie and Sophia (Wood) Brazee. She entered into marriage with Ralph Edmund "Dewey" Nelson on June 20, 1942 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Cadillac. Maxine loved spending time outdoors and spent 51 years working on the family farm with her husband. She had a heart for stray animals and cherished every pet she had. Maxine enjoyed playing instruments and was most fond of the piano, organ, accordian and guitar, even though she couldn't sing. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a dedicated member of the ladies group. Maxine will be remembered by her family as a wonderful hostess and outstanding cook.

Maxine is survived by her nieces and nephews, Rick (Julie) Miller, Tamara (Chuck) Swanberg, Sarge (Greg) Buning, Kris (Dan) Stauffer, Bill Anderson, Jack (Nancy) Johnson, Steve (Joann) Claywell and Robert (Lois) Claywell; numerous great and great-great nieces; special friends, Jim and Irene Leggett; and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey; her parents; a niece, Linda Kay Brazee Anderson; a brother, Merwin Fred (Norma) Brazee; a sister, Patricia Louise (Keith) Miller; 3 sisters-in-law, Evelyn, Gladys, Eleanor; and one brother-in-law, Gerald.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hall-Holdship Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will take place at Gilbert Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or World Mission Prayer League, Joshua and Popy B Support Fund.
