Mayetta Louise Michell, of Marion, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at the Timbers in Dowagiac. She was 95.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her parents, Harrison and Minnie; a son, Jack William Michell; Two grandchildren Aubrey and Joshua Hamlet; and three brothers, Freeman Bancroft, Forest Bancroft and Donald Bancroft.
Mayetta is survived by her loving children, Gloria (William) Mitchell, Calvin (Leslee) Michell, Robyn (Robert) Hamlet, Karen (Tom) Bursma, Trudy (Emanuel) Custodio and Ernestine (Mark) Hoffer; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends. Mayetta was born on July 24, 1923 in Evart, Michigan to Harrison and Minnie (Leyder) Bancroft. On July 28 1945 she entered into marriage with Ernest Michell in Marion. She cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very committed to her faith and was involved in the Faith Bible Church and Salem Bible Church. Mayetta spent her career working as a service assistant supervisor for Michigan Bell until her time of retirement after 30 years. She spent many summers working in camp ministry and for the Pioneer Girls as a leader. Mayetta volunteered much of her free time to the ladies aid group and was a long-time member of the Jolly Workers.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date in spring. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Marion.
