Cadillac, Michigan- Michael Silversides, of Cadillac, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Michael suffered a traumatic brain injury in a bicycle accident this past summer. He was 76.
Michael was born on August 7, 1942 to Fredrick and Margaret (Reddy) Silversides in Detroit. He attended Saint Agatha's Catholic School in Redford Township. He spent his career working as an industrial tool salesman for over 50 years. Michael will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, a devout Catholic and a proud, patriotic American. Michael was a faithful member of St. Ann Catholic Church where he served as both an usher and eucharistic minister. He was also a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Indian River. Michael cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Leonie Silversides; children, Tim Silversides of Novi, Marybeth (Ron) Munch of Cadillac, Craig (Michelle) Silversides of Brighton, Steven (Faith) McNitt of Wilmington, NC and Kevin (Keiko) McNitt of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Megan McNitt, Caitlin (Nick) Lengerich, Alexa Silversides, Lauren Munch, Ian Munch, Sierra Silversides, Savanna Silversides and Grace Munch; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Carol Ann Silversides; 5 brothers and sisters; and a granddaughter, Breanne McNitt.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. with the Divine Mercy Chaplet to be held at 3 p.m. and another visitation held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday, February 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Janowski to preside. Interment will take place in the spring at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery.
