Pauline M. McClain, 96, of Prudenville and Warren passed away on Sunday December 30, 2018 at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren.
Pauline was born on December 7, 1922 in Columbus, Kansas to Paul and Bessie (Walker) VanDuker. She grew up in Kansas and moved with her family to the Detroit area at a young age where she graduated from Detroit Southeastern High School. On September 16, 1950 in Royal Oak, Pauline was married to Donald James McClain. Pauline was a clerical worker for Chrysler Corporation for many years until retiring in 1978. The couple moved from Warren to Prudenville in 1981. She had spent the last couple years living with her daughter in the Detroit area. Pauline was a member of the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church, Houghton Lake VFW Post #4034 Auxiliary, Houghton Lake Does, and secretary/treasurer of the Deer Run Property Owners Association for several years. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, being a volunteer, and sharing time with friends. Her special love was spending time with her family.
Surviving Mrs. McClain are her daughter, Sherran (Joseph) Hige of Warren; two grandsons, Joseph Hige, Jr., and Christopher Hige; granddaughter, Wendy Dobreff; six great granddaughters, Shelby, Alison, Courtney, Madison, Rachel, and Sarah; one great grandson, Ethan. Pauline was preceded in death by father, Paul VanDuker; mother, Bessie (Walker) VanDuker; and husband, Donald McClain.
Graveside Services for Pauline M. McClain will be conducted at Denton Township Cemetery, Prudenville on Saturday June 22, 2019 at 11 am. Memorial contributions in memory of Pauline are asked to be directed to the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515.
