Philip Stanley Swales

Philip Stanley Swales, 78, of Roscommon passed away on Friday June 15, 2018 at home.

Philip was born on May 31, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Stanley and Marion (Wilson) Swales. He grew up in the Detroit area and graduated from East Detroit High School. Philip worked as a Auto Mechanic for Sears at the Macomb Mall for many years. On September 15, 1962 in East Detroit Philip was married to Sandra Shirley Stockman. The couple moved to Roscommon County from Sterling Heights in 1981. Philip enjoyed the outdoors and old cars. His special love was spending time with his family.

Surviving Mr. Swales are his loving wife of 56 years, Sandra Shirley Swales of Roscommon; three sons, Timothy (Michelle) Swales of Houghton Lake, Todd Swales of East Lansing, and Shawn (Andrea) Swales of Troy; daughter, Tamela Ballor of Monroe; six grandchildren, David, Shane, Sierra, Benjamin, Ethan, and Caroline; two brothers, Rick (Connie) Swales of Brights Grove, Ontario, and David Bradley Swales of Brights Grove, Ontario; two nieces.  Philip was preceded in death by father, Stanley Swales, and mother, Marion Swales. 

Funeral Services for Philip Stanley Swales are scheduled for Thursday June 21, 2018 at 2 pm at Christler Funeral Home- Houghton Lake Chapel. The family will greet friends from 12:30 pm until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Philip's memory, are asked to be directed to the family. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
