Randall "Randy" Ervin Prater

Randall "Randy" Ervin Prater, age 66, of Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday August 2, 2018 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City following a motorcycle accident.

Randy was born on March 25, 1952 in Riverview, Michigan to Ruby and Mildred (Cantrell) Prater. He grew up in the New Boston area graduating from Huron High School in New Boston. Randy worked for 15 years at General Motors and later was a truck driver for several freight companies. He was married on August 13, 1977 in Detroit, Michigan to Josephine A. Wilkosz. The couple spent time at Houghton Lake for the past 32 years and retired to Houghton Lake over 2 years ago.  He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.  Randy enjoyed riding motorcycles, and working on his antique cars.  His special love was spending time with his family and especially playing with the grandsons.

Surviving Mr.Prater are his loving wife of 41 years, Josephine A. Prater of Houghton Lake; two daughters, Jenny (Josh) Vogel of Romulus, and Stacey (Chad) Hinton of Lansing; son, Randy (Adele) Prater of New Boston; four grandsons, John, Nick, Noah, and Dylan; sister, Gwen Ritchie of Belleville; brother, Steve (Pam) Prater of New Boston, several nieces and nephews.  Randy was preceded in death by his parents,  one grandchild, two brothers, Bill Prater, and James Prater; sister, Barbara Sue Brendtke.
