Richard "Dick" J. Peterson

Richard "Dick" J. Peterson, age 73, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Wednesday November 28, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. 

Richard was born on June 1, 1945 in Taylor, Michigan to Lionel and Mary (Duchene) Peterson. Richard served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He married Frances R. Lafata on August 10, 1968 in Wyandotte, Michigan. Richard retired from Chrysler where he worked as a foreman. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW and enjoyed watching sports and doing word search puzzles.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Frances Peterson of Houghton Lake, children; Vikki (Sean Connett) Blanchard of Prudenville, Ric (Leslie) Peterson of Flat Rock, Jeff (Alice) Peterson of Wyandotte and Mary (Ed) Lynes of Hemlock, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, sisters; Kay (Denny) Calvin, MaryLynne (Don) Sorenson and Karen Shepphard. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother; Michael Peterson.  

Funeral Services for Richard Peterson will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday December 1, 2018 from Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel with Father Peter Eke officiating. Interment will be in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock. Visitation will be held on Saturday December 1, 2018 at the funeral home from 11 am until the time of the service at 2 pm. Memorial contributions in memory of Richard are asked to be directed to Heartland Hospice 564 Progress Street, West Branch, Michigan 48661.
