Lake City, Michigan- Robert Dale Heeren, , of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at his home. He was 85.

Robert was born on May 14, 1933 to Alfred and Ruth (Marvin) Heeren in Detroit. He answered the call of duty serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Wisconsin during the Korean War. Robert entered into marriage with Gretchen June Schuster on August 17, 1957 in Plymouth, Michigan. He spent his career working as an insurance agent for AAA Auto Insurance in Detroit. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed woodworking. He liked to spend time outdoors hunting, fishing and tending to his garden. He was a member of the Lake City American Legion and the VFW.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Gretchen Heeren; children, Greg (Mary) Heeren of Manton, Eric Heeren of Lake City and Kurt (Svenje) Heeren of Westlake Village, California; grandchildren, Matt (Pearl) Heeren of Gun Lake, Felicia (Steve) Cannedy of Manton, Kyle (Beth) Heeren of Manton, Gerod (Caitlyn) King of Royal Oak, Gregory Heeren of Cadillac, Jayson Langlois of Woodland Hills, CA and Justin Langlois of Agora Hills, CA; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Heeren of Livonia; and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ruth; and a brother, Dean Heeren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 1 p.m. until the time of service conducted at 3:30 p.m. at Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City. Military honors will be provided by the Cadillac Area Honor Guard. Interment will take place on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Lake City Cemetery.
