Cadillac, Michigan - Robert "Bob" Harley Phelps Sr., of Cadillac, passed away at Samaritas Senior Living in Cadillac on Friday, November 9, 2018. He was 79.
Bob was born in Detroit on February 27, 1939, in Detroit to Robert and Gertrude (Fisher) Phelps. He attended Evart Public Schools. Bob, or Papa as he was lovingly referred to, cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
He leaves behind, Mary Phelps of Cadillac; his children, Kathy VanDyke, Robert Phelps, Jr., and Betty Gaskill; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack and Ron Davis, and Edward Huyck; sister, Shirley Russ; and three children, Karen Porter, Brenda Phelps, and Roger Phelps.
Per his wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made and directed to the Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center, located at 6087 M-115 Cadillac, Michigan 49601, for their youth hunting and gun safety programs.
The family is being served by the Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home.
