Ron Pohl, 85, of Houghton Lake, died May 17th at his home, unexpectedly.
He was a retiree of General Motors. Ron had a life Membership of the Fraternal Order of Eagles where he was a member for 51 years. He was the last of the original Building Committee for the current Eagles building. He put many hours in, and is the person that laid the tile floor. Over the years he continued to volunteer and enjoyed helping in the kitchen. He loved his Eagle friends.
He spent many years fishing, hunting, playing cards, dancing, watching Detroit Tiger games, football games, and his favorite hobby was gardening and driving his tractor. He always had a huge garden every summer and often gave a lot of the produce away. He loved tricking people into trying his home made "Hot" horseradish.....bringing much laughter into the household. Ron loved to laugh with family and friends and told the funniest jokes and stories of the past. He also told cute loveable stories to his grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Elouise, and their children, John, Helen, Ray (Mary Beth) and Ron (Shelly); six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at the Eagles Club Thursday, May 23rd from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm with the Eagles Ritual being conducted at 11:15 am.
