Ronald Bassett Obituary

Ronald Burdell Bassett, 86, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Monday September 9, 2019 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint.

Ron was born on November 25, 1932 in Fostoria, Ohio to Walter and Adah (Edinger) Bassett. Ron grew up in Risingsun, Ohio where he graduated from high school.  On March 22, 1952 in Risingsun, Ohio, Ron was married to Mina Mae Shaw.  The couple moved to Houghton Lake from Ohio in 1962.  He worked as a Printer for most of his life, starting at a print shop in Risingsun and later he worked at the Houghton Lake Resorter for 16 years, and then in Midland at Enterprise Printing, and McKay Press.  Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and softball.  His true passion was puttering around in his yard and garden or in the woods looking for mushrooms and blueberries. 

Surviving Mr.Bassett are his loving wife of 67 years, Mina Mae Bassett of Houghton Lake; four daughters, Sylvia Glowacki of Houghton Lake, Sharla (John) Loiacano of Clearwater, FL., Denise (Casey) Smith of Lambertville, and Ranel (Fred) Lapan of Pinconning; ten grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two brothers, Lowell Bassett of Columbus, OH, and Norman (Ann Brehm) Bassett of Great Falls, MT; several nieces and nephews.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bessie Maxine Woodruff. 

Private family services for Ronald Burdell Bassett will be conducted.  Memorial contributions in memory of Ron are asked to be directed to the American Cancer Society.
