Missaukee County - Roy William Lang Jr., of Forest Township, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at his home with family by his side. He was 74.
Roy was born on September 15, 1944, in Cheboygan, Michigan to Roy and Arbutus (Baker) Lang. He proudly served his country joining the United States Navy serving as a E4 During Vietnam. Roy entered into marriage with the former Betty Gail Beer on November 8, 1980, at the First Presbyterian Church in Royal Oak, Michigan. The two had met by chance as Betty had begun driving a bus for returning railroad personnel, and Roy had begun a career with the Grand Trunk Western Railroad as a locomotive engineer. Roy could often be found cheering on his favorite football team or sporting one of many pieces of Wolverine and U of M apparel. He had a passion and appreciation for trains stemming from his early days with the railroad as well as for tractors. He was extremely proud of his 1947 Farmall C and created many memories tooling around the property, driving in parades, or putting up hay. However, nothing was closer to his heart than his beloved dogs, especially "his" dogs, Peanut and Roxy. He will be deeply missed for his stubborn nature and by his loving family.
Roy is survived by his wife, Betty G. Lang of Lake City, his daughters, Jolene (Kevin) Bell and Dawn Lang all of Lake City; adopted daughter, Theresa Brown; his grandchildren, Autumn, Ryan, Robert, and Zachary; one brother, Oren (Patti) Lang; three sisters, Yvonne (Jack) Joseph, Lela Beckman, and Maria Drealan.
He was preceded in death by parents and a brother, Duane Lang.
No services will be held at this time and memorial contributions may be directed to his family in care of Betty Lang.
The family is being served by the Young-Holdship Funeral Home.
