Terry "Zeb" Jones

Manton - Terry L. Jones, known to most everyone as "Zeb", lifelong resident of Manton passed away at home on Thursday, April 26, 2018. He was 69.

Zeb was born on November 20, 1948, in Manton​,​ to parents Clarence "Buck" and Berneta "Bea" (Caldwell) Jones.  Earning his nickname from an older brother, Zeb, was the youngest of five boys. He grew up and attended school in Manton and became a member of the graduating class of 1966.  Zeb once joked "the only thing he wanted out of school, was himself".

Celebrating 50 plus years of marriage, Zeb entered holy matrimony with the former Helen Kennedy on November 4th, 1967.   Zeb retired from Rempco, in Cadillac, after several years of service working as a machinist, as well as helping to maintain the equipment.  He was extremely mechanically inclined and very handy under the hood of a car.  He could often be found turning wrenches with his buddies at their uniquely named local garage.  Zeb was a true friend to many and would share his skills and talents with anyone in need.  He was often first in line to help with whatever project or task needed to get accomplished, from drilling wells to fixing a multitude of friends' and families' vehicles.  Over the years he created many memories over a game of cards, constructing the cabin that eventually became their home, or getting a car ready to race once again.  Zeb was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Cadillac, and took enjoyment in hunting and fishing.  He will be remembered for his lending hand and his legacy of friendship will be cherished. 

Zeb is survived by his loving wife, Helen Jones of Manton; their daughter, Tara (James Thompson) Carlson of Manton; granddaughter, Acacia Wright; great-granddaughter, Carly as well as numerous co-workers and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashley Carlson, just this past January, his five brothers, and parents. 

Memorial services will be held at the Hall-Holdship Funeral Home on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 3:00 pm, with visitation for friends and family from 1:00 pm until the time of service, also at the funeral home.  Officiating will be Zeb's brother-in-law Hugh Kennedy.
