Thelma Ferguson Obituary

Cadillac - Thelma Beatrice Ferguson, longtime resident of Cadillac and formerly of the Detroit area, passed away at home unexpectedly on Monday, June 17, 2019. She was 93.

Thelma was born on January 29, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan to Eber and Beatrice (Martin) Ledsworth.   On April 10, 1948, Thelma entered into marriage with Larry Ferguson in Detroit. The two celebrated over 60 years together and were blessed with the addition of two children into their lives. In 1984, Larry and Thelma retired to the home they built with the help of family and friends in Cadillac.  Thelma would often pass the time knitting creating any one of many sweaters she ultimately would give to others.  She enjoyed playing cards with her group friends or with family.  Thelma was a staple at the Cadillac hospital putting in countless hours as a volunteer spanning over 30 years. As a volunteer she was the head of the lifeline program for 25 years and worked to make it a success which helped many people throughout those years.  Above all Thelma was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandma, who will be deeply missed for her artistic talents and ability to give of herself.

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Janet  (Paul) Andries; her son, John (Cindy) Ferguson; grandchildren, Amy (Dane), Brad (Briella), and Kate; her beloved great-granddaughter, Lilah, as well as many other loving family members and friends.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry in 2008 and her parents.

Per her wishes cremation has taken place and her urn will be laid to rest along side her husband at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.

Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Hospice in Cadillac
