Thomas Wittersheim Obituary

Thomas Stephen Wittersheim, 73, of  Prudenville passed away on Wednesday April 17, 2019 at home with his loving family by his side.

Thomas was born on October 2, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan to Robert and Clara (Burger) Wittersheim. He grew up in the Detroit area and graduated from Dearborn High School. Tom served as a SGT in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.  He was stationed at Sheyma Island Air Force Base. Tom worked as a Regional Salesman for Borg-Warner for many years.  He moved to the Houghton Lake area from Fenton over 25 years ago.  He was married on December 19, 1999 in Lansing to Bernice M. "Bernie" Cowan. Tom was a member of the Houghton Lake Moose, Houghton Lake American Legion, and the West Branch Eagles. He loved to go antiquing with Bernie and was active in area car shows with his pride and joy, 1949 Ford Coupe.

Surviving Mr. Wittersheim are his daughter, Kristin (Tim Truxell) Wittersheim of Atlanta, GA; son, Tim Wittersheim of Fenton;  granddaughter, Chloe Wittersheim; three brothers, Bob Wittersheim of Saline, Dan (Donna) Wittersheim of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Tim (Michelle) Wittersheim of Traverse City; special friend, Mary Bunger; several nieces and nephews.  Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, and  wife, Bernice M. "Bernie" Cowan. 

Military Services for Thomas Stephen Wittersheim will be conducted at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.  Memorial contributions in memory of Tom are asked to be directed to Munson Hospice.
