Thomas Christopher "Tommy" Carter, 22, of Houghton Lake passed away on Monday October 9, 2017 at home.

Tommy was born on August 3, 1995 in Traverse City, Michigan. He grew up in the Houghton Lake area where he attended Houghton Lake Community Schools. Tommy worked as a chef for area restaurants. On February 2, 2016 in Roscommon he was married  to Sarah Shearer. Tommy adored and loved his children and family.

Surviving Mr. Carter are his wife, Sarah Carter of Houghton Lake; son, Thomas Christopher Carter, Jr. of Houghton Lake; daughter, Talia Lynn Carter of Houghton Lake; mother, Linan (Carl) Mason of Houghton Lake; father, Christoper (Pam) Carter of Flint; maternal grandmother, Alberta "Grams" Peterson of Houghton Lake; two step sons, Noah Lester of Houghton Lake, and Isaac Crawford of St. Helen; step daughter, Vera Crawford of St. Helen; two brothers, Anthony Carter of Flint, and Gage Carter of Houghton Lake; sister, Ally Carter of Flint; two half sisters, Kylee Carter of Midland, and Lissa Brown of Lake City; aunts uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Memorial Services for Thomas Christopher Carter will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday October 16, 2017 at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with Lay Minister Sue Lazell officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am Monday. Memorial contributions in memory of Thomas are asked to be directed to the family.
