William "Bill" Sunderland

William “Bill” Sunderland, age 80, of Cadillac, formerly of Merritt,  passed away Thursday, April 04, 2019 at Munson Healthcare, Cadillac Hospital.

Bill was born August 25, 1938 in West Branch Township of Missaukee County to Alden and Marion (Rinckey) Sunderland.

He was raised on a dairy farm and after graduating from Merritt High School he continued farming and was also a truck driver hauling a variety of products.

Bill was a member of the Lake City Eagles Lodge and was probably best known as the flag man for the race cars at the Merritt Speedway.

Bill is survived by Karen Sunderland and his children:  Sally (Bill) Macy, Raymond (Pat) Vasser, Willy (Melanie) Vasser, Barbie (Randy) Priebe,

Connie (Dennis) Chrisler and Rob (Kristin) Aungst, twenty grandchildren and forty four great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Lake City Cemetery with Raymond Vasser officiating.
