Lake City, Michigan - William "Bill" Jay Taylor Sr., of Lake City and formerly of Saginaw, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at his home. He was 70.
Bill was born on June 15, 1948, in Saginaw, Michigan to Kenneth Jay and Rose Marie (Nellett) Taylor. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School Class of 1967 in Saginaw. Bill entered into marriage with the former Barbara Jo Ulman on May 23, 1970 in Saginaw. He spent his career working for General Motors in Saginaw. After retirement, Bill and Barbara relocated from Saginaw to their cottage in Lake City. He enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to his rosebushes and making sure his lawn and home remained pristine, which he was very proud of. Bill and Barbara liked traveling and went on 11 different cruises. He loved being up-north and took his family and friends on many cruises on his pontoon boat. Bill cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandsons. He joined the Missaukee Conservation Club for many years. Bill was a faithful member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Cadillac, where he made many close friends.
William is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Barbara Taylor of Lake City; two children, William Jay Taylor Jr. of Georgia and Joanne Marie Taylor of Cadillac; two grandsons, Devin J. Taylor of Cadillac and Jacob K. Taylor of Georgia; special first cousin, Jacqueline (Robert) Richards of Saginaw; sister-in-law, Julie (Steven) Smith of Saginaw; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Jay and Rose Marie Taylor.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Scott Torkko. Interment will take place at Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum in Saginaw on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 1 p.m.
