Alleene M. Hutko, 87, of Houghton Lake passed away on Saturday March 22, 2025 at The Brook of Houghton Lake with her loving family by her side.
Alleene was born on June 18, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan to William and Violet (Bowyer) Dunlap. She grew up in the Detroit area, graduating from Ferndale High School. Alleene then went on to take college classes and began working as the Office Manager for The Engine Center in Ferndale. On May 17, 1982 in Royal Oak, Alleene was married to David Edward Hutko, who preceded her in death in 2019. The couple moved to Houghton Lake over 25 years ago and they owned and operated Crystal Pines Apartments of Houghton Lake. Alleene was very active in the Houghton Lake Community as a member of the Kirtland Garden Club, Red Hat Ladies, Houghton Lake Lioness, Houghton Lake Merchants Association, and Treasurer for the Houghton Lake Historical Society. She was an avid reader, took delight in her flower garden and watching the birds that would visit her flower garden and feeders, and she adored her cats. Alleene and her family appreciate and thank the staff of The Brook of Houghton Lake and Heartland Hospice for their kindness, friendship, and care.
Surviving Mrs.Hutko are her four sons, Daniel (Annette) McNeill of Lake Orion, Michael (Gina) McNeill of Spring Hill, FL, William (Tina) McNeill of Houghton Lake, and Kevin (Karen) McNeill of Mt. Clemens; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Alleene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Edward Hutko; son, Greg McNeill; brother, Kenneth Dunlap; and step-son, Paul Hutko.
A Celebration of Life Service for Alleene M. Hutko will be conducted from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel on Saturday May 17, 2025 at 11:00 am with Rev. Bryan Thompson officiating. Visitation will start an hour before the service. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Memorial contributions in memory of Alleene are asked to be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
