Arlene Marie (Olson) Flint

Arlene Marie (Olson) Flint, of Cadillac, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Green Acres Living Center. She was 96.

Arlene Marie Olson was born in Cadillac, Michigan on December 19, 1928. She was the daughter of Goldie (Mercer) and Walter Olson. She grew up on a farm in Harrietta, Michigan with her four siblings, and attended Mesick High School. Arlene married Francis "Mike" Flint on December 7, 1947. The couple took over the Flint Well Drilling business and established their home and the business on 39 Mile Road, after purchasing the house from Mike's grandmother, Emily Flint. Arlene loved to sew and was a member of the 4-H, becoming an avid seamstress and quilter. She was also involved in the North Star Quilters for many years. She enthusiastically developed her skills and went on to make hundreds of quilts, winning many ribbons in the quilt shows she entered. She was a very active member of the First Covenant Church of Cadillac, now known as the Cadillac Community Church.

Arlene was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Travis and Brock Flint; Aaron, Joshua, Philip and Nathan Peterson; Zachary, Katelyn, Nicholas and Elaina Reuther; and Remington and Brandon Sawade; plus 18 great-grandchildren. Arlene is also survived by her children, Mike Flint, Delores (Dan) Peterson and Linda (Keith) Sawade; sons-in-law, Karl Reuther of Ohio and Pat Caudill of Alaska; her sister, Clara Harold of Iowa. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Francis "Mike"; her daughters, Beverly (Pat) Caudill and Diane (Karl) Reuther; her daughter-in-law, Connie (Mike) Flint; as well as her siblings, Aldon Olson, Vernard Olson, and Emma Payne.
  
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 11 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior. Interment will take place at Hobart Cemetery in Cadillac.   Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan.
