Arlene Louise (Bates) Shull

Arlene L. Shull, age 83, of Houghton Lake passed away on Wednesday January 5, 2022 at Crawford Continuing care Center.

Arlene was born on June 25, 1938 in Luther, Michigan to Ralph and Elma (Britton) Bates. She retired from GM. Arlene was married on November 27, 1998 in Gatlinburg, TN to Marlin Shull. She moved to the Houghton Lake area 21 years ago from Grand Ledge. Arlene was a dedicated member of St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, spending time with her grandchildren, going walleye fishing, golfing, snowmobiling and spending time in her yard where she would tend to her flower gardens.

Arlene is survived by her loving husband Marlin Shull of Houghton Lake, sons; George E. (Karen) Fillingham of Lansing, Gregory (Brenda) Fillingham of Diamondale and Carl J (Kimberly) Fillingham of Trenton, Texas, step-children; Michael A. Shull of Illinois, Peggy Ann Garcia of Maine and Charles R. (Theresa) Shull of Maine, grandchildren; Ryan (Stacie) Fillingham, Justin T. Fillingham and JT, Ashlea and Chelsea, several step-grandchildren and several great grandchildren, brothers; Donald (Jane) Bates, Merl Bates and Robert Bates, sisters; Jean Miller and Marian (Ron) Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents, son; Harold T. Fisher, granddaughter; Kori Leigh Fillingham and sisters; Norma Parson and Ruth Lynch.

Funeral Services for Arlene Louise Shull will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday January 12, 2022 from St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Kruse officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Lansing. Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 12, 2022 from 10:00 am until the time of the service at St. John Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions in memory of Arlene are asked to be directed to Roscommon County Animal Shelter. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
