Barbara Louise (Colclough) Duwe

Barbara Louise Duwe, 87, of Roscommon passed away on Thursday February 13, 2025 at The Brook of Houghton Lake. 

Barbara was born on July 27, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan to Alfred and Leona (Gillett) Colclough.  She grew up in the Detroit area where she graduated from high school. On August 18, 1962 in Detroit, Barbara was married to Larry William Duwe. She worked for Detroit Edison for many years until her retirement.  The couple moved to the Higgins Lake area from Saginaw in 1981.  Barbara was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Houghton Lake and was a longtime volunteer at Grayling Mercy Hospital Emergency Room.

Surviving Mrs. Duwe are many nieces and nephews including; Ann (Mark) Grohman of Saginaw, Brian Duwe of Anchorage, AK, Cathy (Steve) Hoerauf of Higgins Lake, Mary (Neal) Dobberke of Rochester, MN, Michael (Janis) Duwe of Oracle, AZ, Todd (Joyce) Duwe of Soldotna, AK, and Tom (Terri) Lehman of Litchfield, MI; and her sister-in-law, Janet Duwe of Houghton Lake and cousin, Shirley Gensley of Houghton Lake, cousins; Greg (Mary Jo Firth-Gillett) Gillet of Pleasant Ridge, Douglas (Donna) Gillet of SC, Daniel (Su) Gillett of Mounds View, MN and Alan Gillett of Harrison Twp. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Larry Duwe, sister, Carol (Lois) Colclough, and nephews Chip (Barb) Duwe and Karl Duwe.   A special thank you for the care and friendship given to Barbara by the staff at The Brook of Houghton Lake and Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice.   

Funeral Services for Barbara Louise Duwe will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday February 27, 2025 from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with Pastor Paul Kruse officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Lyon Township. Visitation will be held on Thursday February 27, 2025 from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am.  Barbara requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
