Brian James Hoffman, age 54 of Lake City, passed away January 9th, 2025 in Grand Rapids, MI.
Brian was born April 26th, 1970 in Cadillac to Gary C. and Karolyn Kay (Sanders) Hoffman.
Brian graduated from Lake City High School, the class of 1988. He was in the honor society. After high school Brian went on to the Michigan State University and received his Bachelor of Arts in pre-law.
Following his time at MSU, Brian attended the Thomas J. Cooley Law School in Lansing, where he obtained his Juris Doctor. He went on to practice law in Wexford, Missaukee, Osceola and Grand Traverse.
Brian grew up in Lake City along with his family Gary, Kay, Craig and Dianne. The entire family was very involved in the community having lived here the majority of their lives. Both his father and sister were outstanding attorneys in the area as well.
He was blessed to have made so many friends over his 54 years. Brian was the life of the party. He loved to sing karaoke, travel all over (cruises in particular), and make people laugh. He had an amazing sense of humor. He would want us to continue that laughter and not take life too seriously. He cared deeply for the friends and family in his life. That was one of the ways of saying he loved having you in his life and being your friend. He had a wide range of interests and was always picking up new hobbies. He loved all kinds of music, 80s in particular.
Brian was a huge history buff and loved watching documentaries. He also loved football (Go Lions) and frequently got together with friends to watch games. The number one thing you’ll hear from everyone is just how funny he was. He was always cracking jokes, even if it wasn’t the time.
Brian is survived by his mother, Karolyn Kay Hoffman of Lake City, his daughters, Emily Hoffman of Grand Rapids, and Madison Hoffman of Lake City, his aunts, Carmen Pasternak of Saginaw and Gail Sanders of Clinton Township.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Craig Thomas Hoffman, his father, Gary C Hoffman, and his sister, Dianne Lynn Hoffman.
The visitation will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at St Stephen Catholic Church in Lake City with a service to follow at 1:00 pm with Rev Michael Janowski officiating.
Brian will be laid to rest at the Lake City Cemetery.
