Buddy "Bud" L. Detmer

Buddy "Bud" L. Detmer, age 92, of Prudenville passed away on Tuesday January 11, 2022 at Crawford Continuing Care Center.

Bud was born on August 11, 1929 in Denton Township, Michigan to Phares and Sarah (Gerardot) Detmer. He graduated from Houghton Lake Stone School. Bud was married on July 8, 1946 in West Branch to Jennie M. Ross. He was a tree trimmer for Consumers Power and retired after 52 years. Bud was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed running, golfing, playing baseball, basketball and football. Bud was a little league coach for many years. He was a good artist and was an avid outdoorsman. Bud was a very wonderful, kind hearted husband, father and grandfather.  

Bud is survived by his loving wife of 75 years; Jennie Detmer of Prudenville, children; Christine Cady of Gaylord, Michael (Janice) Detmer of Prudenville, Lou Ann Detmer of Gaylord and Wyatt Detmer of Georgia, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Robert Detmer and Albert "Al" Detmer.

Mass of Christian Burial for Bud L. Detmer will be conducted at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Friday January 21, 2022 at 11 am with Father Peter Eke officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday January 21, 2022 from 10 am until time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions in memory of Bud are asked to be directed to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
