Carolyn Louise McKay, 89, of Prudenville passed away on Friday January 9, 2026 at her home.
Carolyn was born on September 13, 1936 in Ishpeming, and moved to the Detroit area at a young age. She was married on May 1, 1954 in Highland Park to David F. McKay, who preceded Carolyn in death in 2013. Carolyn worked as a bus driver for Livonia Community Schools for many years before her retirement. The couple moved to the Prudenville area in 2008, and enjoyed traveling the country, especially spending winters in Arizona and Florida. They were both avid golfers at White Deer Country Club in Prudenville. Carolyn had been a member of the Red Hat Ladies.
Surviving Mrs. McKay are her daughter, Karen (Gary) Minock of Grayling; son, Steven (Debra) McKay of West Bloomfield; granddaughter, Shea Lynn(Mike Hotz) McKay of Rochester Hills. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David F. McKay; two brothers, Charles Kara, and Clarence Kara.
Celebration of Life Services for Carolyn Louise McKay will be conducted in the spring. Interment will be in Denton Township Cemetery, Prudenville. Memorial contributions in memory of Carolyn are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter. Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
