Catherine Alice (Cowgill) Stauffer

Catherine Alice Stauffer, of Manton, gained her angel wings on Christmas Day, Monday, December 25, 2023 at her home with family by her side. She was 65.

Catherine was born on December 23, 1958 to Ben and Madeline (Watkins) Cowgill in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was a graduate of Manton High School. On June 26, 1976, she entered into marriage with Dale Stauffer at Rollins Church in Manton, Michigan. The couple raised four children and began their life relocating around with the Navy. While dedicating herself as a Navy wife, she proudly took on the role of serving as a Navy Ombudsman in Norfolk, Virginia. During her time in Norfolk, she also worked as a cross guard. Once coming back to Michigan, she then worked as a Latchkey teacher for Gaylord and Manton schools. Catherine loved making special trips to go visit the beach. She always looked forward to celebrating the holidays, especially Christmas, where she would watch "It's A Wonderful Life" countlessly and enjoy surrounding herself with family. Catherine will be remembered not only as the captain's right hand-man, but also as an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
  
Catherine is survived by her loving husband,  Dale Stauffer; children, Steve Stauffer (Rachel), Frank Stauffer, Jacklynn (Russell) Cole, and Crystal (Trevor) Alexander; grandchildren, Matthew, Mariah, Breanna, Madison, Nathaniel, Genevieve, and William; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Ben, Cheri (Jack), Virginia (Richard), and Nadine (Rick); sister-in-law, Mary; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Madeline Cowgill; in-laws, Roy and Betty Stauffer; and siblings, John, Sandra (Jerry), and Bev (Leonard).
  
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Rollins Church in Manton.    Memorial contributions may be directed to the Stauffer Family, in care of Dale Stauffer.
