Catherine Joan (Hegyi) Yager

Catherine Joan Yager, 81, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Friday July 25, 2025 at MyMichigan Medical Center in Clare.

Catherine was born on January 16, 1944 in Midland, Michigan to Joseph and Augusta (Mohowitsch) Hegyi. She grew up in the Coleman area and graduated from Coleman High School, then going on to take classes at MidMichigan College. Catherine was married on July 29, 1961 in Beaverton, Michigan to Ronnie "Ron" J. Yager. She worked as a Real Estate Broker and Agent for many years. Later becoming a Business Owner with her husband , Ron, at Houghton Lake Concrete, retiring in 2004.  The couple moved from Beaverton to the Houghton Lake area in 1988. Catherine was a member of the Houghton Lake Global Methodist Church and enjoyed 
serving the Lord.

Surviving Mrs. Yager are her loving husband of 63 years, Ron Yager of Houghton Lake; son, Tyler (Tammy) Yager of Riverdale; daughter, Ronda (Alan) Rentfrow of Grand Rapids; three brothers, Fred (Mary) Hegyi of Clare, Henry Hegyi of Warren, and Mike Hegyi of Farwell; sister, Ann Hess of South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Michelle Yager; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tim, Philip, Larry, and Joe: and son, Travis Yager. 

A Celebration of Life for Catherine J. Yager will be conducted at the Houghton Lake Global Methodist Church on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11am with Rev. Kevin Harbin officiating. Family will greet friends at the church on Saturday from 10am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions in memory of Catherine are asked to be directed to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, at stjude.org or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
