Catherine Ann Glazer, lovingly known as Cathy, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at The Villa in West Branch, MI. She was 80 years old.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Friday May 16, 2025 at 11 am. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake.
Born on February 11, 1945, in Detroit, Cathy was the daughter of Edward and Catherine (Ratica) Glazer. She grew up in the Houghton Lake area and became a well-known member of the community. Cathy attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School and graduated from Houghton Lake High School.
A lifelong Catholic, Cathy lived her faith with quiet devotion and steady grace, centering her life around compassion and care for others. She volunteered for many causes over the years and was an active member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, often lending a hand wherever she could with a warm and open heart.
Cathy worked as a custodian for over 20 years with COOR ISD/ROOC Inc., where her presence and positivity will be deeply missed. She was known for her gentle humor, her patient nature, and the calm strength with which she met each day.
She was also a gifted artist. With nothing more than a pen and a piece of cardboard, she created intricate, beautiful drawings. Many of her works were donated to local charity auctions. Each Christmas season, she hand-drew cards for friends and neighbors-small works of art that remain cherished keepsakes. She always made sure to send one to the Holy Father in Rome, a humble tradition she held dear.
She loved ice skating, a joy she continued well into her 70s. In the summertime, she enjoyed visiting local yard sales, often more for the company than the bargains.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Thomas C. Glazer. She is survived by her niece, Laurel Jo Glazer of Massachusetts.
To those who knew her, one phrase stood out: “Thank you for your kindness.” A quiet refrain that echoed the heart of who she was.
