Charlane Ann (Wilton) Meadows

Charlane (Wilton) Meadows, 77, of Houghton Lake passed away on Wednesday August 16, 2023, at her home.

Charlane was born on May 24, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio to Charles and Mary (Riek) Wilton. Moving to Michigan, she lived in Zuckey Lake and attended Pinckney Schools. She excelled in her studies and graduated high school early, along with being a cheerleader and voted Homecoming Queen. After graduation, she was soon married and started her family. Charlane went on to have seven children: six boys and one girl. Sadly, she suffered terrible tragedy and loss, losing two husbands before the age of 30. As a widow with six children, she struggled heavily. But she stayed strong and never gave up. Thankfully, not long after, she met the true love of her life, David Meadows. The two were wed and would spend the next 42 years together. She became an icon for her children, persevering through all of life's challenges. She went on to become a model, a newspaper editor, realtor, and successful business owner. Charlane owned and operated five successful businesses but was most proud of her Superior Shores Real Estate Office. Charlane was known for always looking her best, dressing to the 9's. She would not leave the house without her hair, nails and makeup done. In her later years, she and David would become snowbirds. They traveled to Florida every year and were known as Captain and Queenie. She loved her lakes, specifically Houghton Lake and Lake Superior. She enjoyed sewing and knitting. But she was the happiest when she was surrounded by her loving family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be missed by so many.

Surviving Charlane Ann Meadows are her loving Children, Lori, Charlie, Mark, Bill, Christopher, Daniel, and David Jr.; Grandchildren, Jimmy, Adam, Baby Char, Vince, Will, Charles Jr., Brendan, Juniper, Noble, and Lavender; and Great Grandchildren, Delilah, Oliver, Bella, Tella, and Lorelei. She is further survived by many other loving family members and three lifelong friends, Sandy, Mary and Sue.

Charlane was preceded in death by her Husband, David Meadows; Son, Fred Henes; Parents, Charles and Mary Wilton; and her Brother, Charles (Sue) Wilton.

There are no services scheduled for Charlane at this time.
