Charles Wilson Obituary

Cadillac - Charles "Charlie" Earl Wilson, longtime resident of Cadillac passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Munson Healthcare's Cadillac Hospital. He was 78.

Charlie was born on March 15, 1947, in Trenton, Michigan to James and Billie (Irvin) Wilson. He grew up in Wyandotte and was a 1965 graduate of Roosevelt High School.  Charlie proudly served his country in Vietnam with the United States Army.  Following his time in the military, Charlie attended CMU where he earned a master's in education.  He dedicated his professional career to Cadillac Area Public Schools teaching at the junior high before transitioning into administration. On December 17, 1988 he married Marcia (Paquette) Anderson, in Cadillac. Together, they celebrated over 36 years of marriage and the blending of their families.

Charlie embraced the "up north" lifestyle and could often be found hunting, fishing, and enjoying the great outdoors. He was an avid exerciser who loved playing golf and watching sports. Charlie enjoyed friendly competition through various sports pools, especially NCAA Basketball and the Detroit Lions. He was known for his multiple picks. In quieter moments, he spent time reading and working on crossword puzzles. After retiring, he looked forward to traveling to Sand Key, Florida each winter. Charlie was a proud member of St. Ann’s Parish, the Cadillac Country Club, the AMVETS, The Elks Lodge #680, and the American Legion.

Charlie will be remembered for his strong work ethic, competitive spirit, love for dogs, and passion for helping others. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Marcia Wilson of Cadillac; five children, Cathy (Jeremy) Dwyer of Owosso, Bill (Janet) Wilson of Austin, TX, Missy (Dave) Goodrich of Cadillac, Mike (Megan) Anderson of Cadillac, and Stephanie (Cliff) Bennett of Ravenna, MI; eight beloved grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Cheryle (Ken) Sprecher; his brother George Wilson; his beloved Scottish Terrier, Gracie; several nieces and nephews and many other loving family members and friends.
