Cheryl Marie (Schomaker) Raasio

Cheryl Marie Raasio, of Cadillac, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City, Michigan. She was 75.

Cheryl was born on April 14, 1949 to William and Marie (Schneider) Schomaker in Saginaw, Michigan. On January 29, 1972 she entered into marriage with Karl S. Raasio in Bridgeport. The couple spent nearly 40 years together, until his time of passing on May 9, 2011. Cheryl achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Baker College. She worked several different bookkeeping positions over the years, including FedEx and Jay Thiebaut Accounting, both of which she retired from. She could almost always be found watching some sort of sporting event on TV, whether it was the Pistons, Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, or a U of M game, she was an avid fan. Cheryl cherished the time spent with her family, and made a point to attend her kids and grandkids sporting events to cheer them on. 

Cheryl is survived by her loving children, Amy Bartes of Saginaw, and John Raasio (Shan Bowens) of Manton; grandchildren, Carson Raasio, Megan Alworden (Junior Espino), and Trevor (Erika) Alworden; great-grandchildren, Azrael, Axel, Bentley, Riley, Jameson, and Owen; sister, Rhonda Schomaker (Gary Killingsworth); several nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.
  
She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl; and parents, William and Marie.
  
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Hall-Holdship Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 1 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior, also at the funeral home.
