Connie Phillips Obituary

Mesick - Connie Jo Phillips, resident of Slagle township, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was 63.

Connie was born on May 3, 1957, in Traverse City to Daniel and Christina (Jones) Loney.  She was raised in Mesick and was a graduate of Mesick High School in 1975.  Through a special matchmaker, that eventually became her mother-in-law, Connie met and married Elmer "Bud" Phillips.  The two were wed in Grawn and celebrated over 45 years together. Connie spent some time working at FIAMM Technologies and a few years with Bud in Texas before settling back into Mesick.   Her and Bud then expanded upon her passion for crafts and his for maple syrup.  She was a driving and supportive force for "Bud's Pure Maple" and the couple began visiting and selling their crafts and maple products at many of the area's farmer's markets.  Connie was a talented seamstress who was able to supply many dolls, hats, dish scrubbies, pot holders, and kitchen towels to family, friends, churches, and Connie's Crafts market stand. Connie never met a stranger and will be remembered for her kind heart and conversation.

Connie is survived by her husband, Bud Phillips of Mesick; Her son, John (Briann) Phillips, currently stationed in Florida; three beloved grandchildren, Kira, Ashlyn, and Andrew; her mother, Christina M. Loney of Mesick; sisters, Betty Posey, Alice Dauthrich and Marjorie Keese; as well as many other loving family members and friends.

Connie was preceded in death by her father, Daniel E. Loney, just about a week prior.

Per her wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.  The family is being served by the Hall-Holdship Funeral Home.
