Darrell "Dick" Richard Raymer Sr., of Manton, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at his home. He was 86
Dick was born on May 18, 1939 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Glen and Marie (McBrian) Raymer. A lifelong outdoorsman, he found his greatest peace in the woods and fields, whether hunting, working the land, or simply being outside. Dick was the proud owner and operator of his Raymer Septic and Excavating, a trade he approached with determination, integrity, and pride that has now carried onto the third generation. His work quite literally shaped the land of the community he loved, and his reputation for reliability and honesty was well-known. He had a deep appreciation for Manton's history and took great pride in knowing the stories, people, and places that made it what it is today. He was faithfully involved in Rollins Church, where for many years he enjoyed playing the stand-up bass during worship. Above all else, Dick cherished his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest joy of his life, and his presence will be deeply missed at every gathering, conversation, and quiet moment. Dick will be remembered for his hard work, deep roots, and devotion to those he loved most. His legacy lives on in the land he shaped, the stories he shared, and the generations who carry his name forward.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Nancy O'Dell of Manton; children, Dick (Dana) Raymer Jr. of Manton, Kymberly Hockaday of Missouri, Scott (fiancé Courtney) Raymer of Manton, Kimberly (Joseph) Gearon of Missouri, Connie (Jeff) Stall of Manton, and Chris (Don) Stall of Manton; sister, Pat Stauffer of Manton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Marie Raymer; and a brother, George Raymer Sr.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December, 22, 2025 at 3 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Rollins Church in Manton. Pastor Dave Martin will preside.
