David Carl Emmons

David Carl Emmons, 72, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Saturday November 20, 2021 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

David was born on September 18, 1949 in Lansing, Michigan to Carl and Betty (Moss) Emmons. He grew up in the Lansing area where he graduated from Lansing Everett High School. David served in the Army National Guard for 21 years.  On October 18, 1969 in DeWitt, David was married to Jennine Hill.  David worked as the Director of Transmission and Distribution for over 35 years at the Lansing Board of Water and Light.  The couple had a cabin at Houghton Lake starting in 1998 and moved permanently to Houghton Lake from DeWitt in 2002. David was a trustee on the Lake Township Board and also served as Lake Township Supervisor.  He was a member of the City of Lansing Safety Counsel, Houghton Lake Moose and the Houghton Lake Eagles.  David enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, golfing, and was secretary of his pool league. He loved playing Santa at local lodges and gatherings.  His passion was visiting with people and helping people whenever he could, but nothing compared to his time spent with his wife, grandsons, and his best friend, Tipper.

Surviving Mr. Emmons are his loving wife of 52 years, Jennine Emmons of Houghton Lake; two sons, Scott (Jennifer) Emmons of Berkley, and  Michael Emmons of Mason; two grandsons, Logan and Nolan.  David was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sherrie Dubber. 

Funeral Services for David Carl Emmons will be conducted at 12:00pm Saturday November 27, 2021 from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel.  Visitation will be held on Saturday November 27, 2021 from 10:00am until the time of the services at 12:00pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David's memory are asked to be directed to Toys for Tots.
