David Robert Murphy

David Robert Murphy, of Manton, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at his home with family by his side. He was 74.

David was born on January 26, 1949 to Robert and Virginia (Brandell) Murphy in Saginaw, Michigan. After graduating high school, he proudly answered the call of duty serving in the United States Marines during the Vietnam Era. In 1999 he joined Hazel Darlene Brown to spend life together as companions. The couple spent 24 wonderful years together, until her time of passing in 2022. In his spare time, he could often be outside tending to his yard or his garden. David loved attending sporting events of all types and enjoyed playing sports throughout the years. He cherished the time spent with his family.

David is survived by his sister, Judy Tyburski, and her children, Anne, Maria and Mark; brothers, Ronald Murphy and Jim Murphy, and his son, Mitchell; loving children, Melissa Murphy, David Moore, Cathy (Bob) Sosenko, Shawn Moore, Misty (Daniel) Dowland, and Chad Moore; grandchildren, Josie, Jessie, Josh, Lyndia, Aleisha (Sam) and Cole (Kelsie); 10 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his love, H. Darlene Brown; his parents, Robert and Virginia Murphy; and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Moore.

A committal service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with military honors provided by the Cadillac Area Honor Guard.
