Dennis Harris Obituary

Dennis Lee Harris, of Mesick, traveled to the everlasting woods, and was greeted by those he loved that have passed before him, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Although he struggled with sickness in his final days, he made a point to spend some of his last hours sharing love and laughter with his family.  He was 68 years old.

Dennis was born on October 5, 1956 to Robert and Joyce (Williams) Harris in Flint, Michigan. He was a graduate of Alma High School and later received a certificate of Etymology from Purdue. On April 19, 1997 he entered into marriage with the former Brenda Elmore in Nashville, Indiana. The family relocated to Michigan in 1999. The couple devoted their life to raising their children, along with opening their home to anyone in need, often referring to their home as everyone's home. His family lovingly referred to him as "Pap". Dennis will be remembered as a dad to all of the lost kids, a title he proudly carried. In his spare time, he could often be found outside whether it was enjoying trips on his Harley, or walking around the property with his beloved dogs. Dennis loved fishing, hunting, and especially looked forward to taking his grandkids on annual turkey hunts. He was strong in his faith and he turned to God in prayer with all of his worries. Above all, Dennis cherished the time spent with his family and friends, and made a point to surround himself around them as often as he could, whether hosting holidays, sharing stories over a cup of coffee, or listening to music around a campfire. Pap will be greatly missed, never forgotten, and the family will always honor his life by living all that he passed on to him; his heartfelt belief was "Love is all you need".

Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Harris; children, Krystal Harris, Lyssa (Michael) Dyer, Christin Scott, Joe (Crystal) Harris, Natalie Totzkay (Bud Fessenden) and Tyler Harris; grandchildren, Harper, Isaac, Myka, Emmah, Trinity, Harmony, Kane, Haven, Faith, Kane, Matthew, Bentley, Lydia and Kaidyn; great-grandson, Bryler; mother, Joyce Williams; siblings, Dave (Becky) Harris, Carolyn (Ken) VanDorp, Bev (Tim) Hamp and Joyce Harris; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Ryan Harris; father, Robert Harris; and sister, Marjie Nicewander.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to everyone that influenced Dennis throughout his journey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
