Diane Lynn Tompkins, 71, of Prudenville, passed away on January 6 at home with her children and family by her side.
Diane was born on September 11, 1954, in Gladwin, MI, to Martha and Clyde Parker. She spent her childhood in Jonesville, MI, before moving to the Houghton Lake area. She married Greg Wagner in 1978, and they raised 5 children together. She worked for Grayling Hospital and later West Branch Regional Medical Center as the medical staff coordinator before semi-retiring and opening up an in-home daycare where she was able to care for her grandkids. Diane later married Lee Tompkins in 2001, and they shared many meaningful years before his passing.
Being a mom and a grandma was everything to her. She never took it for granted. Diane went without so her children could have, sacrificing endlessly and loving fiercely. Her family was always her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She taught them-and all of us-what it means to love unconditionally, to show up, and to put God and family first.
Diane was an incredible Ama to her grandchildren, loving them deeply and delighting in every moment she spent with them. Ama was always jamming out in the car and making crafts with the kids.
Diane is survived by her children, Joe (Lydia) Wagner, Jeff Wagner, Jeremy (Lindsay) Wagner, Josh (Amber) Wagner, and Jennifer (Paul) Lewis, 19 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, siblings, and many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Karen, and late husband Lee.
