Donald Bard Obituary

Donald L. Bard, age 79 of Lake City passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital.

 

Don was born April 23, 1941 in Forest Township of Missaukee County to Daniel and Lola (Hinkley) Bard.

 

He graduated from Lake City High School in 1959 and married Lola Sherman.

Don was employed at the Missaukee County Road Commission.  They moved to Flint where he became a truck driver.  He retired from Clark Highway Services. 

 

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Lake City Eagles.  Don enjoyed playing with his grandkids  and all his kids, telling stories and traveling.  He enjoyed helping in the community.

 

Don is survived by Lola Sherman and their three daughters: Joyce (Lonnie) Kenyon of Merritt, Penny (George) Doolittle of Lake City and Lee Ann (Charlie Shank) Bard of Eureka, California,  eight grandchildren: Luke, Levi, Max, Melanie, Jessica, Beth, Crystal and Donald,  fifteen great grandchildren and Spirit his travel companion. He is also survived by two brothers: Richard (Mary) Bard and Carl (Jeanne) Metzger Jr. and three sisters:  Marjorie Bard, Ada Baughan and Wilma Sirpilla.

 

Don was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Nelson Bard and three sisters Norma Jean Haselhuhn, Joann McKerchie  and Karen Bard.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m. on June 20, 2020.  It is an informal celebration at Don’s home, 3401 N. Menzies Road, Lake City, MI.

 

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
