Lake City - Donald A. DeBoer was welcomed to heaven on 22 Feb. 2025 in Grand Rapids, MI following a snowmobile accident in Ontario, Canada. He was born to Robert and Lillian (Meekhof) DeBoer on 20 Nov. 1956. He was 68.
Don lived in Lake City, MI most of his life and graduated from Lake City High School in 1974. For decades he worked as an honest, respected businessman and retired in 2022.
While on earth, Don faithfully followed God and honored him by using his many skills to serve his church, family, friends and strangers in any way possible. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, golfing, wood-working, driving his tractor and sharing stories of his many adventures. He coveted time with his grandchildren. His strong work ethic, servant-leadership and love for the Lord will live on forever.
Don deeply loved his family including Julie (Lundell) his wife of 42 years; son, Andrew (Holly) DeBoer with children Emersyn and Mason; daughter, Kaitlyn DeBoer; brothers, Bob (Barb), Ed (Carla), Tom (Deb), Brian, Bruce (Lisa) and Ron (Kerrie) DeBoer; sisters, Sandi Coolsen and Sheryl Pitts; uncle, Al DeBoer; in-laws, Kristi (Lon) Vredeveld, and Mark (Ellen) and John (Karen) Lundell; plus many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Jim Coolsen and Gene Pitts; in-laws Irv and Donna Lundell; plus nephews, Eric Vredeveld and Tom Trusock.
Visitation for friends and family will be held from 4pm until 7pm on Wednesday, February 26th at Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City. A memorial service and celebration of Don's life will be held at 11am on Thursday, February 27th at Lake City Christian Reformed Church where Don was a member and the first baby baptized. A luncheon will follow. The family will also hold a time of visitation one hour prior to the service on Thursday from 10am until 11am, also at the church.
