Donald J. McCrimmon

Marion - Donald Joseph McCrimmon, of Marion passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025 with family by his side. He was 94.

Don was born on March 25, 1931, in Middle Branch Township to Joseph and Florence (Williams) McCrimmon. He grew up in Marion and became a graduate of Marion High School in 1950.  He proudly served his country with the United States Marines during the Korean War.  He entered into marriage with Rachel L. Cruz on July 25, 1980, in Kentwood, MI.  

Don made his living working with Michigan Gas Storage and eventually Consumers retiring in 1993. Don enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and woodworking.  He was a member of the VFW, the Eagles, and the American Legion.  He will be deeply missed. 

Don is survived by his longtime friend, Aileen Dake; his five children, Donett (Cris Larsen) McCrimmon of Suttons Bay, Diann (Brian) Allan of Marion, Dale (Teal) McCrimmon of Clio, Darwon (Michelle) McCrimmon of Marion, and Dana (Tim) DeKam of Falmouth; his first wife, Roberta McCrimmon; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel McCrimmon; his parents; two brothers, Henry and George McCrimmon; and two sisters, Norma Anderson and Kathryn Thompson.

A graveside committal service with military honors will be held at Middle Branch Township Cemetery on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11am, followed by a celebration of life at the Marion Eagles from 1pm until 4pm.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan.
