Donald Mulka Obituary

Donald J. Mulka, 87, Prudenville, died Aug. 9, 2022, at home with his wife by his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Aug. 12 with Father Peter Eke officiating. Interment has taken place at Denton Township Cemetery, Prudenville.

Born May 15, 1935, in Rogers City, he was the son of Anthony and Agnes (Yarch) Mulka. He was married Dec. 28, 1957, in Rogers City, to Virginia DuLac at St. Ignatius Catholic Church.  He came from a large family, grew up in a very close-knit community and was proud of his Polish American heritage. The family moved to Prudenville in 1968 from Rogers City. He retired from Consumers Power, where he had worked as a field liaison officer. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. He enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting and cherished the time he spent with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was blessed with a God-given artistic gift which he shared with those near and dear to his heart. Loved ones always received a personal, heartfelt hand-drawn greeting card for birthdays, Christmas and anniversaries.

Preceding him in death were his parents and 10 siblings. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Virginia Mulka of Prudenville; children, Kimberly (Steve) Spurgeon of Houghton Lake, Mitchell Mulka of Saline and Lisbeth (Michael) Lytle of Hudsonville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many close nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Catholic School or Church, P.O. Box 800, Prudenville, MI 48651.

Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel, handled the arrangements.
