Donald "Don" Wayne Person, 83 years old, of Cadillac slipped away to be with Jesus on January 27, 2025 at Munson Medical Center, Cadillac.
Don was born November 8, 1941 to Victor G. and Charlet (Backstrom) Person of Reed City, MI. Don spent his childhood in Reed City and the surrounding area, graduating High School in Reed City, 1959. Don is remembered for his solid work ethics; working many years for UPS, selling cars, driving for Butternut Bread, running his own Vending and Game Machine Business and so much more. If you know Don, there is a good chance he has helped you to “find the right car.” Don loves and is loved greatly by his family who will miss visiting, eating out, fishing, playing cards, phone calls, his words of encouragement and advice, and his appreciation for classic cars. He was always quick to help a neighbor and enjoyed being part of a working community. He has a special place in his heart for dogs and has enjoyed the company of many “spoiled “ pets.
He will be greatly missed and lives on in the hearts of his daughters, Tami (Brad) Decker of Blanchard, MI, and Diana (Louie Ordiway) Person of Blanchard, MI; his Sweetheart and Loving Partner of 29 years, Sharon Bodnar and her children, John (Colleen) Bodnar of Rapid River, MI, Kelly (Ron) Duncan of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jody (Don) Moore of Hobart, IN; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; Victor and Charlet Person; step-father, Irwin Nash; his sister, Elizabeth VanOmen; his daughter, Lori Fate; his son, Chad (Jodie) Person; and his grandson, Cody Decker.
At Don’s request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Sunset Shores, 1246 Sunnyside Drive Cadillac MI, 49601.
