Cadillac- The family of Douglas "Doug" Dale Paddock, are saddened to announce his sudden passing on Thursday, December 12, 2024. He was 72.
Doug was a loving husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. On August 1, 1992 he married the former Penny Heyd, recently celebrating over 33 years of marriage. Doug was a lifelong resident of Manton. He made his living as a machinist working for ITW in Traverse City and also helping his friend Roger Carpenter on the side, before retiring in 2004. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Hazel; sisters, Connie Emahiser and Penny Wells; and a step-son, Shane Heyd.
Doug will be loving remembered by his wife, Penny Paddock of Manton; his children, Melissa (Kevin) Bowman, Daniel (Fiancée Laura O'Dell) Paddock, Chad Heyd, and Robert (Kathy) Heyd; grandchildren, Jacob (Brooke) Gilde, Dre Raymer, Shaelyn (Kole) Birgy, Miley Bowman, Kasey (Brooks) Heyd, Shaney (Tyler) Weir, and Shada (Shane) Sagnek; one sister, Deb Graal; his brother, Ron Paddock; twelve great-grandchildren; his loving dogs, Molly, Missy, and Loki; many cherished nieces and nephews; as well as several other loving family members and friends.
Doug's witty sense of humor and willingness to always lend a hand will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him and loved him. He enjoyed the outdoors, spent time hunting, gardening, and fishing with his buddies. Doug's memory will remain in the hearts of his family and friends and all that had the privilege of knowing him. Doug will live on as he gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
A luncheon for family and friends, honoring Doug's life, will be held on December 22, 2024 from 1pm until 4pm at the Manton Barn Hall, located at 3888 Old US Hwy 131, Manton, MI 49663. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Gift of Life Michigan.
