Duane R. Hancock, age 60, passed away at his home in Lake City, on December 26, 2021 with his loving dog, Zeus by his side.
He was born August 20, 1961, in Bellaire, the son of Lewis and Pauline (Hall) Hancock.
Duane graduated from Northwestern Michigan College with a degree in HVAC Technology and most recently worked for the Lake City Forge.
Duane and Lisa (VanConant) Hancock had a daughter together, Tara Hancock.
Duane married Marianne (Schier) Hancock on January 7, 2005, in Traverse City, gaining a step-daughter, Nicole Shellum. Duane was a devoted husband and loved Marianne deeply.
Duane was an avid outdoor lover; enjoying fishing and hunting and loved to talk to anyone about these activities. He would spend many hours outside treasure hunting with his metal detector; never discovering any large treasures, just simply enjoying the out of doors. He was also a very proud member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.
Duane is survived by his daughter, Tara Hancock, step-daughter Nicole Shellum, Mom, Barb Hancock, sisters, Karen (Fred) Bartholomew, Kimberly (Mark) Musselman; grandchildren, Myka and Bella Watkins, and Nicholas Shellum; Uncle Jerome Hall and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne, father, Lewis Hancock, brothers, Jeff Hancock and Carl Brooks, and sister, Audrey Hancock.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
