Edna Muyr Wray (87) a resident of King Nursing and Rehabilitation of Houghton Lake passed away at Grayling Mercy Hospital following a sudden medical event. She passed peacefully with family members at her side.
Edna was born February 4, 1934, to Edwin and Muyr Minaker of Ionia, Michigan. As an elementary student in Ionia, she met her husband of 68 years, Edward H. Wray who passed in December of 2020. She married Edward in 1952. The youngest of five sisters, she never failed to express her ideas and sought to be a positive voice when difficulties arose. After living in Ionia and raising three sons, the couple moved to Six Lakes, Michigan, and lived at the cottage they had built together. In retirement, they moved to Harlingen, Texas, where they enjoyed the friendship of many other retirees. She enjoyed cooking, reading, knitting, talking, and crocheting. The couple relocated to Roscommon in 2017 seeking medical support from family and became residents of King Nursing in 2019. Ed and Edna attended the Houghton Lake Church of Christ until the lockdowns of Covid-19 began in March of 2020.
She is survived by her three sons, Tim (Peggy) of Ionia, Don (Kathy) of Roscommon, and Mark (Christie) of Six Lakes, and five grandchildren. Her sisters and parents preceded her in death.
No memorial service is planned. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at the Sunset Memorial Gardens of Ionia where the cremains of both Ed and Edna will be placed together per their wishes. Arrangements were completed, with appreciation, by Christler Funeral Home of Houghton Lake.
